SEO, AEO, and GEO: a practical business content checklist

SEO concerns search visibility. AEO and GEO describe efforts to make content useful in answer and generative systems. Start with accessible pages, direct answers, consistent business facts, and evidence a reader can inspect. None of these guarantees a ranking or an AI citation.

Answer the buyer’s actual question.

Explain what the service does, what the customer supplies, where its scope ends, and how the output is checked. Put the direct answer before supporting detail. Use separate pages when they address a distinct decision, rather than repeating city names or tool keywords across similar pages.

Make the page accessible to crawlers and readers.

Use descriptive headings, working internal links, a canonical URL, and an accurate description. Keep essential information in readable page content. Include useful pages in the sitemap, and ensure indexing settings match the intended visibility.

Keep structured data tied to visible facts.

Describe the actual business, services, author, and article. FAQ markup should match the questions and answers people can read. Do not add reviews, outcomes, or credentials that cannot be substantiated. An updated date should represent a real editorial change.

Evaluate visibility separately from conversion.

Search impressions and query activity help assess discovery; inquiry quality and completed form submissions assess the buyer journey. Check that the published page serves the intended answer and that its next step works. Treat llms.txt as an additional readable export, without assuming systems will use it.
